{"id":449,"date":"2013-05-03T02:22:32","date_gmt":"2013-05-03T02:22:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jcmgf.org\/mg2\/mg2\/?page_id=449"},"modified":"2024-01-19T16:07:31","modified_gmt":"2024-01-20T00:07:31","slug":"grants-and-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jcmgf.myparkpack.com\/mg2\/our-foundation\/grants-and-scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"Grants and Training"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Grants and Training<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Do you or your organization have a project that you want to undertake but lack sufficient funding?<\/li>\n<li>Is there an advance training or educational class you would take but for the money?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>The Jefferson County Master Gardener Foundation has launched a new grant, scholarship and training assistance program to financially support organizations or individuals who intend to educate the Jefferson County community in the fields of sustainable horticulture, environmental stewardship or other related fields.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Are these your goals too?\u00a0 If so read on to learn more about the criteria and guidelines\u00a0associated with each type of award, and download the appropriate application form below.<\/p>\n<p>Also, check out what other have done in <a href=\"https:\/\/jcmgf.org\/our-foundation\/grants-and-scholarships\/projects-we-have-funded\/\" title=\"Projects We Have Funded\" class=\"btn btn-default btn-shortcode\" target=\"_self\">Projects We Have Funded<\/a>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\r\n<div class=\"tb-tabs tabbable tb-tabs-framed\"><ul class=\"nav nav-tabs\"><li class=\"active\"><a href=\"#tabs_2020486346a170520023b1-tab_1\" data-toggle=\"tab\" title=\"Overview\">Overview<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#tabs_2020486346a170520023b1-tab_2\" data-toggle=\"tab\" title=\"Grants\">Grants<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#tabs_2020486346a170520023b1-tab_3\" data-toggle=\"tab\" title=\"Training Assistance\">Training Assistance<\/a><\/li><li class=\"\"><a href=\"#tabs_2020486346a170520023b1-tab_4\" data-toggle=\"tab\" title=\"Forms\">Forms<\/a><\/li><\/ul><div class=\"tab-content\">\n<div id=\"tabs_2020486346a170520023b1-tab_1\" class=\"tab-pane entry-content fade in clearfix active\"><h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Our Program<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This program will provide financial assistance to individuals and groups in the Jefferson County community in sustainable horticulture, environmental stewardship and related fields.\u00a0 This program will support the Purposes of the JCMGF as outlined in Article II, <em>Articles of Incorporation.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>PROCESS FOR THE PROGRAM<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The program will be accomplished by awarding grants, scholarships, and training assistance to those organizations and individuals whose proposals are compatible with the purposes of JCMGF.\u00a0 The program will be sustained by funds allocated for that purpose by the JCMGF Board and donations from the public.<\/p>\n<p>The funding level will be determined by the Board during the annual budget process.\u00a0 Unused funds will carry forward to the next year.\u00a0 Awards will be conferred based on the recommendations of the JCMGF Grants \/ Scholarships committee after approval from the JCMGF board.<\/p>\n<p>There will be one grant application deadline per year in the Spring.\u00a0 Grant funding will be for one year.\u00a0 Scholarships and training applications will be reviewed throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>Awards will be made based on the following criteria, guidelines and any other factors as the<br \/>\nCommittee and \/ or Board may determine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No grants, scholarships or training assistance will be awarded unless the group or individual applicant is qualified and meets the criteria and guidelines as stated on each application form.<\/li>\n<li>The final amount of the grant, scholarship or training assistance award will be at the discretion of the Committee and JCMGF Board.<\/li>\n<li>If there is a conflict of interest or close alignment between a group or individual applicant and a member of the Committee or a member of the Board, that member will not vote on the award.<\/li>\n<li>Committee members are available to answer general questions regarding the application process and \/ or encourage groups or individuals to apply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><!-- .tab-pane (end) --><div id=\"tabs_2020486346a170520023b1-tab_2\" class=\"tab-pane entry-content fade in clearfix\"><p><a name=\"Grants\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong>GRANTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Awards may range up to $1,000 each.<\/li>\n<li>The purpose of the organization must be compatible with the above purposes of WSU and JCMGF.<\/li>\n<li>The deadline to submit an application is May 1. This allows the committee to consider each app, make site visits, meet, and recommend funding selected projects to the Board. Lucky recipients are notified by June 15.\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><br \/>\nCRITERIA AND GUIDELINES FOR GRANTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Grants are available to all not-for-profit groups without discrimination.<\/li>\n<li>Groups may be asked for references or letters of recommendation.<\/li>\n<li>Projects will support sustainable horticulture and environmental stewardship in Jefferson County.<\/li>\n<li>Timelines, scope of activities, and project budget should reflect project completion within a year.<\/li>\n<li>Site visits are an essential part of the application review.<\/li>\n<li>Funding will not exceed the amount awarded.<\/li>\n<li>Labor and administrative costs are NOT funded.<\/li>\n<li>A progress report is required approximately six-months after the award date.<\/li>\n<li>A final report is required at the end of the granting period and should include activity photos that may be released to the public.<\/li>\n<li>Grant funds will be reimbursed on basis of itemized receipts that detail amounts paid, items, and vendors.<\/li>\n<li>Grant recipients may be asked to make a verbal report at a JCMGF meeting that is open to the public.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><!-- .tab-pane (end) --><div id=\"tabs_2020486346a170520023b1-tab_3\" class=\"tab-pane entry-content fade in clearfix\"><p><a name=\"Training\"><\/a><br \/>\n<strong style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;\">TRAINING ASSISTANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>JCMGF is committed to educating the community on environmentally safe, sustainable gardening practices.
