A broad fork, hand tools, soil and compost were requested for use in four gardens:<\/p>\n<p>Ancestors Garden, Community Garden, Hugelkultur Garden, Listen Garden<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6162 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/jcmgf.org\/mg2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/shy-acres-224x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jcmgf.myparkpack.com\/mg2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/shy-acres-224x300.png 224w, https:\/\/jcmgf.myparkpack.com\/mg2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/shy-acres-500x669.png 500w, https:\/\/jcmgf.myparkpack.com\/mg2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/shy-acres-600x803.png 600w, https:\/\/jcmgf.myparkpack.com\/mg2\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/shy-acres.png 756w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/>A total of 250 pounds of orchard fruit and 268 pounds of produce were grown. The Shy Acre harvest-sharing served 50 families community-wide. They participated in the Organic Seed Alliance\/WSU\u2019s Community Seed sweet corn and black bean project; their crops were successful and they were able to \u201cgive back\u201d seed from both crops.<\/p>\n<p>The Heart Berries preschoolers to community elders also participated by using their gardens as a venue and source of art\/activity materials for Dia de Los Muertos and Winter Solstice celebrations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Shy Acres Farm (2021-22 Project Grant) Shy Acres houses a BIPOC community off Discovery Road in Port Townsend.
