The gate and less-than-adequate metal posts were especially vulnerable; head teacher Emily Gohn noted that trying to keep the garden secure with a broom handle was just not working.<\/p>\n<p>Swan School has a strong volunteer base, but not much money for such \u201cextra\u201d projects. The $750 grant was enough to buy stout fencing supports and an irrigation timer.
